As Penn State professor William Rothwell ominously points out in the forward to Exit Right: A Guided Tour of Succession Planning for Families in Business Together, more than 40% of the people who run the closely held operations that comprise 80% of the North American economy will retire by 2007. It makes me wonder, what is going to happen to all of those businesses? Although it is a noble gesture, passing a business down to the next generation is more often than not, unsuccessful. In fact, statistics show that only one-third of all family businesses are successfully transferred to the next generation and only 13% are transferred onto the third generation.

Many family business consultants say the primary reason for this low survival rate is the failure to develop and effectively plan for the transfer of ownership and management of the closely held family business. I agree that this is a factor, but in my dealing with family businesses I find that there are some more fundamental reasons.

The first is that the next generation has a lot different life style than the business founder and entrepreneur. They do not share the same drive and commitment that dad needed to build the business from scratch. They go to the good schools, get a taste of the good life and generally do not share the passion of the business founder. I recently was involved in selling a produce distributor. I found that most of the firms were in their second or third generation. I asked a third generation owner why this particular industry had such success with keeping the business in the family. He said, “When you are up and on the docks at 3 am and work 12 hour days, you don’t have the time to spend the money.”

The next generation may have a grand scheme to turn the traditional printing business into a media empire or a liquor business into an entertainment enterprise. A few years back the second generation of a well known Chicago area computer leasing and IT Services Firm tried to turn it into an Internet Venture Firm with disastrous results.

Before you just assume that your torch will be carried by the next generation, make sure that the next generation even wants to run the business. Imagine the loss in value that would have occurred if the real estate billionaire from the western suburbs had turned his empire over to his son who simply wanted to produce plays.

Are your heirs even capable of running your business? Have you held on to the reins so tightly that the kids involved in the business have not been able to develop their decision-making or leadership skills? Do they command company respect because of their personal strength and skills or are they grudgingly granted respect because they are the child of the owner? If that is the case, the odds are not good for them taking over when you retire.

Another big challenge is trying to balance fairness in employing many children or even grandchildren in a family business with various skill levels, compensation levels and ownership levels. The jealousy and in fighting can absolutely grind the company’s progress to a halt.

The business owner must make some difficult decisions when he or she decides it is time for them to retire. Why did I create this business? Was it to keep this business in the family for generations or was it to provide for my family for generations? If the desire and the capability of the children are not evident and the company is large enough, it may be the right decision to first get outside board members actively involved as step one.

Step two would be to hire professional management to run the business. A second alternative is to sell the company while you are still running it and it can command its highest value. If you have children that want to remain in the business for the immediate future, incorporate that into the sale agreement with employment contracts.

Another way to think of it is, while I am running the business, the best ROI is to keep the bulk of my net worth invested in this company. If I am no longer running the company what is the best risk reward profile for my net worth?

Would my heirs be better off if the business was sold and the value converted to financial assets?

UFO’s are the mystery of the sky with the population divided on whether they do or don’t exist. Many efforts have been made to determine and record their existence, with many people witnessing UFO sightings and recording UFO evidence.

Many ufologists and researchers are devoted to get to know more about UFO’s and its existence with UFO secret reports being unearthed that prove the existence of these unidentified flying objects.

The UFO Secret Reports contain evidence of UFO sightings seen by the US Airforce from the early 50’s. The Official FBI Reports on Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) Released Under the Freedom of Information Act £2.18 ...

I was a fan of science fiction since before Captain Kirk of Star Trek's first split infinitive ( "To boldly go ..") – but I doubt may never be found with some of his smart friends abroad, or even any intelligent extraterrestrial microbe.

Some say that UFOs are a reality – but this seems to mean that the unidentified flying objects were seen – therefore, by definition, are "unidentified flying objects" – but buildings do not extraterrestrial – only unexplained observations. Unfortunately, data are not very convincing UFO alien connection – and whether foreign among us, keep a low profile.

You hear statements like: "Given the billions of stars in the universe is out reasonable doubt that life exists in space "… and …" There is no doubt that we live in a world where the population of all life "

Unfortunately, the above types of statements do not tell us anything – and if that evidence raises really strong connection with UFOs, aliens, close encounters and / or alien abductions, we really just weighing the possibility of extraterrestrial life based on data available to us.

It is certainly possible to make a plausible case of resonance of extraterrestrial life. To begin, we know that life exists on earth and we deduce that once existed. So at some point in the history of 4 billion years of Earth, life arose. If the origin via a mechanism natural, then we can deduce that the same mechanism may occur throughout the Earth as a planet elsewhere in the universe. So, extraterrestrial life may seem plausible, even likely.

The "Drake Equation" (Frank Drake, 1961) goes beyond – it estimates the actual potential planets in the universe of life. The calculation is based on several assumptions, the key is that life sure is likely to exist in any country-specific as planet – and the equation then implies that there could be millions of planets in the universe of life – many life forms to be smart – and not much more technologically advanced than us.

However, a problem with the key assumption Drake appears as a consequence direct the Darwinian theory of evolution. This theory argues that the organizational complexity of the land occurred gradually over a period of several million years, by the action of natural selection causing gradual changes over several successive generations of reproduction to organizations.

But consider this – how many generations any sequence of changes should be finished – you can not put a number infinity of successive generations to breed in the history of the Earth's finite, no matter how anyone can be brief. Therefore, if trace, each sequence evolution should lead to an initial member – a self-replicating molecular entity that emerged spontaneously (without help of natural selection, as there were generations before its existence) a 3000 + million years. In fact, every sequence evolution should the back to the first self-replicating molecular entity, the common ancestor of all subsequent forms of life – unless more than one self-replicator arose independently.

As for life on any planet, anywhere in the universe, a self-replication molecular entity which would arise spontaneously because, as Darwin's evolution to continue. There is no mechanism "in question, which can be expected that once operated on the ground, and is also likely to operate throughout the Earth as a planet elsewhere in the universe – From the emergence of a single replicator fist is an event entirely random.

My own estimates indicate that even assuming that all stars in the universe has a planet like the Earth in orbit, even if the first self-replicator was much more simpler than the simplest cells known, the probability of spontaneous origin in the entire Earth as a planet is mind bogglingly small.

Given our account of lack of knowledge on an auto-reply first possible that my assumptions about the purpose of my calculations are by necessity arbitrary – but I suggest realistic alternatives are not reasonably justify the Drake-like assumption that life is very likely to exist on a planet like Earth.

In fact, it is likely that millions of planets in the universe that has the essentials for life (water and even organic molecules) and yet are completely dead – because the self-replicating molecular entity, necessary for further evolution, does not arise spontaneously in any of them. The number of planets to support life in May and only one – this.

However, in the (!) Positive – All those millions of planets are occupied, uncontaminated Edens, ideal for "seed" and our future colonization, allowing us to spread throughout the universe without objection by foreigners. The future interplanetary wars under foreign films like "War of the Worlds" May-be among those who remain on the land and the descendants of those who have taken up residence in other planets, research and independence the world "home" – not a bad story for a sci-fi!

Why is the government of the United States continue to conceal the truth about UFOs and aliens? Is he really unaware of the presence of UFOs above and on earth? Although the government still struggling to commit concealment, a large percentage of the truth has been revealed already. But not our government. The truth has been revealed by sighters UFOs and alien abductees and for the most part. Many people have had close encounters the third type and the room. They had to have proof of extraterrestrial near or have been abducted by them. UFO sightings distance who may steal hubcaps so naturally and refreshed.

About 50% of the U.S. population believes in UFOs and extraterrestrials. The remaining 50% either do not want to know or believe simply not. Many people know the truth is, but just not in the mainstream yet. No one hears in the news, not newspapers traditional television or radio. But you learn that in the tabloids, magazines, underground websites, talk shows at night (as Coast to Coast AM) and so on. Plus many books have been written on the subject, usually by researchers and investigators and witnesses.

The Government ignores all those who know the cat is out of the bag. It discredits all those who know the truth. There are many witnesses to UFOs and Aliens and a host of scholars and researchers have been reporting these findings. The UFO community is large and growing, but the U.S. government denied credibility and shames them for what they know. The government preferred to pass them off as forgers and liars, or simply delusional.

Perhaps a large percentage of UFO sightings are actually false alarms. Anyone can paint a silver handgun Frisbee, throw up in the sky and take a snapshot of it. And everyone can tell a sad story really: they have been abducted by aliens. But many abductees who have real evidence or on the body, such as implants or more points on the skin and scars, psychological and so on. But as ever, critics are willing to discredit all.

Stanton Friedman says: "However, there are noisy opponents still insist there was no concealment. "In other words, people who rush blindly without coverage are real government in place, we imagine conspiracies, head in the sand. Plans are in denial. All I can say is that we open our eyes so we can see what you get. The truth is here!

The Justice League of America was formed when Earth was invaded by a tribe of six alien warriors from the planet of Appelaxia. UFOs, Unidentified Flying Objects – Flying Saucers, whatever you care to call them, and whether you believe in them or not, there are too many sightings to be totally dismissed. Here’s an exceptional one extracted from written by “EJR” former chief of the Air Force’s project for investigating UFO reports.

The incident took place at Luke AFB, Arizona, the Air Force’s advanced fighter-bomber school that is named after the famous “balloon buster” of World War I, Lieu¬tenant Frank Luke, Jr. It was a sighting that produced some very interesting photographs.

There were only a few high cirrus clouds in the sky late on the morning of March 3 1953 when a pilot took off from Luke in an F-84 jet to log some time. He had been flying F-51s in Korea and had recently started to check out in the jets. After take off, clearing the traffic pattern, he climbed toward Blythe Radio, situated about 130 miles west of Luke.

He’d climbed for several minutes and had just picked up the coded letters BLH that identified Blythe Radio when he looked up through the corner glass in the front part of his canopy-traveling left to right at two o’clock from his current position, the pilot noticed what initially appeared to be an airplane, leaving a long, thin vapor trail. He glanced down at his altimeter and saw that he was at 23,000 feet. The object that was leaving the vapor trail must really be high, he remembered thinking, because he couldn’t see any airplane at the head of it.

He altered his course a few degrees to the right so that he could follow the trail and increased his rate of climb. It soon became clear to the pilot that he was gaining on the source of the vapor trail, as he was right under the middle of it. Still no object was visible. This was odd, he thought, because vapor trails don’t just happen; something has to leave them.

He had now climbed another 12,000 feet to 35,000 feet, according to his altimeter. He kept on climbing, but soon the ’84 began to mush; it was as high as it would go. The pilot dropped down 1,000 feet and continued on-even when he was below the front of the trail, however, still no sight of an airplane. This bothered him too.

Nothing in 1953 flew over 55,000 feet except a few experimental airplanes like the D-558 or those of the “X” series, and they don’t stray far from Edwards AFB in California.

He couldn’t be more than 15,000 feet from the front of the trail, and you can recognize any kind of an airplane 15,000 feet away in the clear air of the sub stratosphere.

He looked again and again. He rocked the F-84 back and forth thinking maybe he had a flaw in the plexiglass of the canopy that was blinking out the airplane, but still no airplane. Whatever the object, it was darned high, or darned small. The object was traveling at approximately 300 miles an hour, as it was necessary to reduce engine power and “S” to stay under it.

He was beginning to get low on fuel about this time so he hauled up the nose of the jet, took about 30 feet of gun camera film, and started down. When he landed and told his story, the film was quickly processed and rushed to the projection room. It showed a weird, thin, forked vapor trail-but no airplane.

Lieutenant Olsson and Airman Futch (veterans of the UFO campaign of 1952) worked the report over thoroughly. Confirmation from the photo lab proved this was definitely a vapor trail, rather than a freak cloud formation. But Air Force Flight Service said, “No other airplanes in the area,” and so did Air Defense Command, because minutes after the F-84 pilot broke off contact, the “object” had passed into an ADIZ-Air Defense Identification Zone-and radar had shown nothing.

There was one last possibility: an astronomer said that the photos looked exactly like a meteor’s smoke trail. But there was one hitch: the pilot was positive that the head of the vapor trail was moving at about 300 miles an hour. He was unsure how many miles had been covered, but on first picking up Blythe Radio, whilst flying on Green 5 airway, he was approximately 30 miles west of his Air Base. When the pilot had disengaged from the chase, a further radio bearing confirmed his position as almost up to Needles Radio, 70 miles north of Blythe. He could see a lake, Lake Mojave, in the distance.

Was a high-altitude jet-stream wind the reason for the smoke cloud? Futch checked this-no. The winds above 20,000 feet were the usual westerlies and the jet stream was far to the north.

Several months later I talked to a captain who had been at Luke when this sighting occurred. He knew the F-84 pilot, whose report he had heard in minute detail. I won’t say that he was a confirmed believer, but he was interested. “I never gave much thought to previous reports,” he said, “but I know this particular chap well. He’s not nuts. What do you think he saw?”

I don’t know what he saw. Maybe he didn’t travel as far as he thought he did. Maybe, it could have been the smoke trail from a meteor that he saw. But if he did know that he’d covered some 80 miles during the chase, I’d say that he saw a UFO-a real one. And I find it hard to believe that pilots don’t know what they’re doing.

What do aliens have to do with practicing the craft or practicing spiritual evolvement? Nothing physical, but a lot theoretically. The advanced technology and evolvement aliens are suppose to possess can help spark our drive to understand more and to seek out other options to realities.

Aliens are such a hot topic because of that. More and more scientists and archeologists are admitting the existence and visitation of extraterrestrial beings. Gram Hancock is a prominent archeologist that points to aliens in much of his work. Look at the Aztec drawings of odd men wearing helmets inside rockets. Read the Maya documents about alien visitation and the teachings the aliens brought, and see the ancient Egyptian monuments that point to star constellations. Plus Graham adds to the advanced Egyptians themselves. How did they evolve with lightening speed while cultures around them remained cave-men? Could alien interference be the reason? Michael Tellinger is a scientist in South Africa that dictates that aliens have infused some cultures with their own DNA. He goes on to say how this explains how some of us are at genius levels or have paranormal skills. Author / philosopher Drunvalo Melchizedek agrees. Drunvalo points to an ancient artifact that is a piece of a power generator for a space ship found in Egypt’s dust.. Paintings of a red globe flanked by cobras are found everywhere in tombs/monuments in Egypt. These globes represent the planet aliens came from and the cobras the inhabitants of those planets. Carvings of tools they brought with them are also present in carvings (forks for raising the ka and wands easing astral projection). David Icke also agrees with the ever presence of aliens. In his books though, he says that these reptilian beings are harmful and try to take office in our government to slow our evolution. Lynn Grabhorne remains steadfast about the harm these visitors are to us also. She writes that she has channeled information that claims that these guys have always been with us since the beginning. And at that time, they conned us into signing contracts with them that overall hurt us as human beings. And of corse, there are the abductees. No matter the social standing, anyone from all walks of life is a possible abductee. These people have never met, do not know each other, but yet come up with very similar stories. These stories typicly go like this: A very bright light is seen while outside some where. The person creeps up to get a closer look. As they get closer the hair on their body stands up and a magnetic-like field is felt. They want to turn and run away, but they feel stuck and are unable to move. Or the person is in bed and is awakened at a late hour. They too are unable to move. Both these victims next remember laying on a gray table or standing in a white hallway. Staring back are 4 foot gray beings with black eyes, large heads, and hairless bodies. These beings do not talk verbally, but express themselves telepathically. Some beings express wonder, some express neediness to know things about us. Some want to know how our emotions work while some remain silent observers. Again stories vary, but many include these similar details.

So are these critters good or bad? New or old? Do they process technology way past our knowledge? It is obvious the scholarly community of today is opening up a little more to alien probability. Are we on a new thresh hold of worlds coming together like an episode of Star Trekk? Will we be ready? Probably.
