Enoch was a biblical figure who appeared in a handful of mentions in the Old Testament, and had two mentions in the Qur’an. Outside of this, many people take interest in him due to the Book of Enoch, an apocryphal text dating from around 300 BC. The word ‘Enoch’ means wise person in Hebrew, and Patient and Hardworking in Arabic.
What interests paranormal investigators is the claim in the Book of Enoch, that Enoch himself was taken by the angels, into the Heavens. There he was taught the language of the Angels, and educated in technology and other sciences, and returned to Earth to lead his people. People receiving messages from celestial beings is not an uncommon occurrence in religion…people learning an actual language is.
Some have stipulated that these weren’t angelic beings at all. Rather, that they were alien astronauts, who came to earth for some reason we cannot fathom (or at least that I won’t Hypothesize here). After all, if a being is truly divine, it doesn’t need a language to communicate. In truth, it would be its communication.
Certainly, these ideas present a view of one of the most popular and powerful religions, that is definitely in opposition with what the Church might have us believe. So there is a lot of resistance to this idea, in much the same way that there is resistance to change in any established system or order. Its okay if Aliens exist outside (or at least more tolerable), but when you call into question some of the oldest held parts of a faith, this threatens the order of things.
