The city of Wenatchee is a great place to visit and it has a number of strengths including a vibrant downtown area, great shopping and dining opportunities, and being located so closely to a large number of outdoor recreation attractions and areas. Another of the strengths of Wenatchee is the surrounding communities that help Wenatchee make the North Central Washington a great place to visit. Here is a look at some of the smaller communities that are located in the Wenatchee area.
East Wenatchee – East Wenatchee sits right across the Columbia River from Wenatchee and has a number of notable businesses including the Wenatchee Valley Mall. East Wenatchee is also home to some great local celebrations like Wings and Wheels, as well as the Classy Chassis classic automobile parade.
Malaga – Malaga is an extremely small community south of Wenatchee that is mainly residential. It is located very to the Alcoa plant and the Three Lakes Golf Course.
Rock Island – Rock Island is located on highway 28, just south of East Wenatchee. Rock Island is very small and is located very near to the Rock Island Dam.
Crescent Bar – Crescent Bar is a vacation and retirement area consisting of condominiums, golf courses, restaurants, and shops. It is right on the Columbia River and also offers a boat ramp and campground space.
Quincy – The community of Quincy is a mostly agricultural community located on highway 28 approximately 40 minutes from Wenatchee. Quincy is home to a very active farming community.
Orondo – Located just a few minutes north of East Wenatchee on the eastern shore of the Columbia River is Orondo. This very small community has just a few small businesses and is mainly filled with apple and pear orchards, as well as fruit packing facilities.
Waterville – Waterville is located up the hill and to the east of Orondo and is about 45 minutes from Wenatchee. This small community has a very interesting and historical looking downtown area. Waterville is actually the county seat of Douglas County, and the county courthouse is located there.
Chelan – The community of Chelan is a noted retirement and vacation home paradise that sits at the base of the 51 mile long glacier fed Lake Chelan. There are a number of great things to do in Chelan including all sorts of water recreation, hiking, shopping, dining out, and going for amazing scenic drives.
