Area Alien

There are foreigners who live in southern Ontario! No, do not have to worry about the meeting or Klingon ET paddling down the river in general – At least I'm sure – but they must be more aware of what we do – and are – in the natural order of things in southern Ontario.
According to biodiversity education and Education Network (Bean) biodiversity is "life in all its diversity: over 14 million species that are top of the mountain in deep water ventilation. But more. The species to meet and interact. These interactions create communities and systems and systems to provide goods and services such as oxygen production, pollination, water filtration and storage, pest control, food production, carbon storage and erosion control cons.
Problems arise when we modify the natural interactions. This occurs when "alien species" (species not normally found in a particular ecosystem, often referred as invasive species) are introduced. In southern Ontario that took place following the introduction of intentional and unintentional, both plants strangers, animals, birds and aquatic species in our ecosystems balanced but fragile.
Some of these more invasive exotic squatters are:
Zebra mussels – arrived in the ballast tanks of ships Foreign cargo.
Round goby – arrived in the ballast tanks of foreign cargo.
Loosestrife – Introduced by European settlers as cut flowers.
Crayfish – or migrated introduced to the valley of the Ohio River.
Mustard Garlic – introduced by European settlers.
Asia Longhorn – arrived in wooden shipping boxes hardwood foreign probable.
What can Amateurs Outdoor Ontario do to prevent the spread of invasive species?
- Joining an organization like the bean that promotes biodiversity initiatives.
- Learn about the different invasive species in southern Ontario.
- Always use small locally caught fish for bait. Never put in another field.
- Always use the wood locally.
- Always clean the bottom of your boat before launching a new water plan.
- Never lift or invasive plant species like purple loosestrife and garlic mustard.
Follow these simple tips and you do your part to stop the spread of "foreign" in southern Ontario.
