Foreign investment doesn’t always mean purchasing interest in American companies. One of the biggest boons since 2008 has been in purchasing real estate in the United States. In many areas that have been considered as prime real estate, foreign investors that have been able to ride the wave of the world recession have been able to find prime properties all across the country.
The prime area for these foreign investors has been Florida, Georgia, and California. That’s because each of these areas has very good weather, has areas where real estate has been highly priced, but also because these three states, along with Arizona, have suffered the greatest with foreclosures and falling home prices.
Something that helps put California ahead of the other two states is that a lot of the prime real estate is in the Los Angeles area, which means there are not only beautiful homes and property, but it puts investors close to one of the two major media centers in the United States, and gives foreign investors an opportunity to mix with big time financial players, which may help them make even more money than they’re already sitting on.
Let’s look at this in more detail. Los Angeles, or Hollywood if you prefer, is the land of dreams. Most of those dreams come in the form of either television or movies. There are many directors, small films or large films, who are looking for investors to help them make their movies. In today’s economy, a smart investor might not have to put up a lot of money to get a successful film made. A recent example is the new movie Paranormal Activity, which was made for $15,000 and has already made tens of millions back.
American investors don’t see many of those types of movies as good deals. Foreign investors, though, have put up money for those types of films for years. However, the reality is that American made films will make more than foreign films on a consistent basis. Being a foreign investor in an American film could make someone very wealthy.
And, if you’re going to live the part, having a wonderful home in the Los Angeles area couldn’t hurt.
