I live here and haven’t heard anything about this. I even watch News 10 regularly cuz they have the kind news.. Stories about good things.
So… I missed this. Last nite was Friday so I will see what the people at Starbucks have to say…hmmm. Just lights is my guess.

Most people going to Singapore almost expect to be greeted in the traditional Chinese “Ni Hao?” the moment they arrive. However this is not the case. Singapore, where 78% of the population descends from Ethnic Chinese ancestors is fast forgetting its roots and is succumbing to western influence. More and more citizens are taking up English instead of Chinese as it offers a better chance financially. Also the youth are not inclined to learn the much harder mandarin Chinese as it requires a lot of effort and also uses a lot of idioms for expression. Contrast this with the 26 letters of English and the much simpler and easy going way of expression and it becomes clear why the youth have opted for the latter.

However the consequences of such a development are disastrous for the survival of the traditional Chinese dialects. Along with the disappearance of Mandarin comes the extinction of Taoism, the backbone of Traditional Chinese culture; English has definitely taken the place of Chinese here grossly threatening the self-identity of the Chinese. A lot of professional people in Singapore have attributed their success to their understanding of the English language; it is only obvious that the ambitious youth who wants to follow in their footsteps.

Since the 1980′s the Singaporean Government has carried out the Speak Mandarin Campaign by which they have tried to encourage the usage of Mandarin Chinese by selling books, and recently CD-ROM’s. The latest effort is directed towards making the language more trendy and acceptable by the youth.

The crop circle is a phenomenon occurs in some countries such as England, Canada, America, Australia, and some parts of Asia such as Japan. It shows circular pattern or geometric shape in the farm fields. Usually, it occurs in the summer when the plants grow in those fields. Some researches prove that those beautiful patterns are not made by human. Therefore, many people relate it with aliens and consider it as the traces of UFO.

The crop circles are mostly found in South England. The patterns usually formed from the fallen down plants in the particular field. Effective negotiating is not a substitute for selling skills. Many salespeople believe that they need to be better negotiators, when what they really need is improved selling skills.

LetÂ’s define selling from my perspective. 1. Selling is identifying good prospects (which means that have a need and desire for a solution that your product or service will give them.) 2. Positioning your product or service in the mind of the prospect as the best solution for their available resources. 3. Presenting the aspects (features and benefits) of your product or service to the prospect in a way that they see how these solutions will be achieved. 4. Answering any unspoken questions (sales objections) during this process and asking for the business. (ThatÂ’s called closing, folks.) I just summarized my two-day sales seminar.

LetÂ’s define negotiating. Negotiating begins where selling leaves off. It is finding those areas of difference or compromise in: a. features (what they can live without) b. delivery terms (what they need and what you can give them.) c. financial terms (again, what they need and what you can allow.) Negotiating is finding a way to reach a meeting point where you and your prospect can agree with each otherÂ’s circumstances and still have a win/win relationship. I donÂ’t know if the negotiating experts would agree with me, but since this is my Tip, you can decide for yourself whether my argument makes sense.

The close of the sale is the beginning of the client relationship, not the end of something. Negotiating is both parties giving in so that you can have a mutually beneficial working relationship.

Selling is about developing and maintaining positive ongoing relationships. Negotiating can be a one-time issue that only comes up in the beginning of a new relationship or when there are new ingredients added to the relationship puzzle such as a new product introduction, new policies on the part of your organization or your clientÂ’s, or when a competitor is knocking on your customerÂ’s door.

Both skills – selling and negotiating – are necessary if you are to have any degree of career success in sales.
