Can anyone explain 2001 a Space Odyssey & 2010 the year we make contact?
I’ve watched 2001 a Space odyssey several times and everyone has different opinions on it but I was curious to know what the monolith really is and near the end of the movie in 2001 what is all the trippy colors and the astronaut in the room eating dinner and aging supposed to be?
Also is 2010 worth watching, I’m wondering do you ever even see aliens or anything or is just the monolyth again in that film too? Sorry for many questions but if someone can break down this stuff for me it help a sci-fi junky out thanks
The monolith represents a god that is observing the apes, the most intelligent life on the planet earth, The apes are not doing too good, so the monolith, or this god gives them a boost in intellligence so that they may survive in an environment that proves much too harsh for their survival. The movie shifts about a million years into the future to show how far man has advanced since the monolith first apeared. We see killer satelites orbiting the earth and we see how far man has come. Space travel has become routine and communications have advanced dramatically. At this time the monolith re apears on the moon, again to test mans survivalbility. They think man is ready for another giant leap in his developement, so they test the humans and find that some things have not changed, but their experiment goes on. Man goes on to meet this monolith, which has stationed itself around the planet Jupiter, and here is where he meets his destiny. The monolith brings an earthling to yet another place where his final developement will take place. He goes through the universe at light speeds-the lights, and ends up in an environment close to that which he knows. He ages at this place until he becomes very old; and then the monolith apears again. Now man is ready for his final stage in his developement, to die and be reborn again, this time he is very refined, something wonderful. We see the image of a baby that has been reborn from the old man, much as astar explodes and then is reformed into another beautiful, bright, young star……..The following movie focuses on recovering the old Discovery spaceship in search for answers. Why did the Hal computer fail? It was human programming that led to its actions. Finally contact is made by the “alliens” and a message is given to the human race; All these worlds are yours, but Europa is off limits to the human race. I belive that Kubrick, the writer took this passage from the Bible, where Jehavah God tells the human race that the earth He gives to human kind, but the heavens belongs to Him……KECK

Reasons for the Delay in Publishing Further Translations:
The main reason, quite frankly, is that I find translation from the Arcturian symbols into English extremely difficult. The work is painstaking and slow and gives me a ruddy headache. Imagine translating from Greek or Chinese when you have no prior familiarity with either language or alphabet.
I do have some limited clues provided by my source: a lexicon of key alphabetical symbols and words and some crudely drawn pictures that look like the work of a three-year-old. Without these, the translation work would be impossible. There is not, let’s face it, a great deal of common ground experience-wise between me and someone from an alien planet! (My wife’s opinion notwithstanding)I don’t even know what they look like! They could be more or less human or more or less Intelligent Mollusk for all I know!
Here are some answers to some of the questions I am most frequently asked, which I hope will save many of you the trouble of emailing me and waiting a month of Sundays for a reply (I’m extremely backed up).
Why Do I Refer to Our Visitors as Arcturian?
My alien correspondent supplied me with a diagram at one time, which a friend of mine pointed out looks uncannily like the constellation of Bootes. The brightest star of Bootes is Arcturus, which is about 36 light years from us. Along with this rough sketch of Bootes was the Greek symbol ALPHA. Arcturus is also called Alpha Bootes. I figured someone was trying to draw my attention to the star Arcturus and guessed this must be their star of origin. Some more crude symbols led me to conclude that Arcturus has fifteen planets and Arcturus IX is our guests’ home world. This is all guesswork and I could be barking up the wrong tree entirely. Or just barking of course. Indeed, all my translation work contains a considerable degree of intuitive leaps (or blind guesswork depending on your point of view). If and when more data comes to light that leads me to correct earlier assumptions or fill in gaps, you’ll be the first to know.
How Do I receive these communications and when did they start?
One day about 6 month ago, a phantom blog appeared on my Blogger dashboard that I didn’t create. Evidently not only has the world gone blogging mad, even aliens are at it! (It will be PPC ads for weekend breaks on Procyon IV or herbal remedies for flakey tentacles next!)
The aforementioned Phantom Blog contained posts that were the first communications from my alien source. Further posts appeared over the ensuing weeks. At first I deleted the blog assuming it to be a glitch of some kind, but it would always reappear. After a while I started to look more closely at the content, which I had at first assumed to be gibberish, and realised it may be some kind of coded communication. Enough clues were provided for me to be able to “decode” the messages, albeit rather imperfectly.
I have about one “post” a week appear on my Phantom Blog, sometimes more. Some sections of these posts are intact and some are corrupted for some reason. I’m assuming the sender is using some kind of interface that allows a transfer of information between two entirely incompatible electronic systems. The Visitors use a much more advanced computer system based on something I can best translate as “Digital double helix” or “digital DNA” Does that mean anything to anyone?
To date I have received twenty eight messages of which I have managed to translate and publish two. Number three will be published just as soon as I can get my head around some very difficult passages. As you can tell I am very backlogged. (I’m hoping to get some help from a trusted friend who is also a linguist and that may speed things up.
How Do I Know The Whole Thing Is Not Just A Hoax -The Work Of Someone’s Imagination?
Quite frankly, I don’t.
I nevertheless decided to simply translate what was before me, publish and let YOU make of it what you will. It beats the hell out of watching TV and the exterior, detached view of our asylum,….er, I mean planet….. is kind of interesting. Besides, surely only a looney would put that much work into creating a flight of fancy?
