Flying Saucers Are Everywhere

This irreverent, satirical look at the never-ending flying saucer controversy lampoons the full spectrum of the UFO "invasion", from the ancient astronaut theories to the evolution of today's alien abduction "epidemic". From the first chapter, readers see how a close look at prehistoric myths from around the world reveal common threads in each account. McHugh relates how Noah and his sons inadvertently caused aliens to flood the Earth for forty days and nights; how extra-terrestrials gave Nostradamus his power, and how they influenced the success of the 1969 New York Mets. He traces the evolution of the alien abduction epidemic and offers a tongue-in-cheek quiz to determine if you have been abducted without realising it.

my friends mom is a permanent alien , does she have to go to jury duty?

My friends mom was born in England, and is now a permanent alien resident of the United States. We live in IL, and she was recently summoned for jury duty. Does she have to go? I thought you had to be a US citizen to be called for jury duty?

I thought so…That you had to be a US citizen to be called to Jury duty…Usually on the notice…which is supost to be mail back in…you can check a block…explaining that you are not eligible because of lack of Citizenship…If not call the number on the notice…they can help you out…Names are not normally screened for US citizenship…but pooled from city databases…

Space Aliens In Literature

Space Aliens In Literature
What new and exciting things do we need to see in sci-fi action flicks?

New weapons? New machines? New foods? New music? New slang? New discoveries? New literature, dance styles, and cinema? Go wild :D
STAY AWAY FROM:
guns
hovercars
aliens
time travel
spaceships
a virus (biological or virtual)
post-apocalypse
a planet covered in garbage
space hookers
…These are all sci-fi flick clichés and they drive me NUTS!!!!!

I like the idea of a large-scale weapons that fire compressed air, like the serial killer from “No Country for Old Men” who uses the captive bolt pistol. You could probably wage eternal war with that sort of thing!

Another idea: humans should evolve. It doesn’t have to be anything obvious (i.e. tentacles) but maybe something along the lines of Dragon Ball Z where they have the ability to form explosive energy in their hands and throw it. Not everyone would be able to do it, which would probably create a tyrannical hierarchy.

Chemicals and infertility. It’s been seen in Aeon Flux, but I think it’s a very scary issue. Our own world is already saturated in chemicals, and it could affect the population of Earth in the future (which, for all we know, could be overrun by smart, oversized bugs!).

Aliens In Popular Culture

Aliens In Popular Culture

One of the best things about childhood is being able to make up your own games and play in a fantasy world. Children have the ability to see things that aren’t really there and create transformed environments with their creativity. If your children enjoy these types of activities, there are many different types of make-believe games you can teach them.

Fairy Tale Games

Most little girls love fairy tales and think of themselves as princesses. Tap into this line of creativity by suggesting fairy tale games. According to the Disney Family Fun website, fairy parties are popular events that typically involve dressing up like fairy princesses, complete with tulle and satin outfits. Give the girls glitter and tell them it’s fairy dust. Staple white twinkle lights and let them make flowers out of tissue paper. Send them outside to hunt for flowers that might have special magical powers.

Water Games

Swimming pools and lakes can be great environments for make-believe games as well. These games should be supervised by adults and only played by children who know how to swim. Tell your children to pretend they are mermaids, and show them how to swim with crossed ankles. If you are at a lake or beach, suggest they hunt for “pearls” and let them try to find shells and clams. Blow up several large floats and tell them there are alligators or sharks in the water, and they must cross the pool without falling into the water. Little boys can play make-believe pirate games with inflatable boats. Throw some waterproof items to the bottom of the pool and tell them to dive for their treasure.

Dress-Up Games

Dressing up in costumes and outfits is fun for most little girls. Provide princess dresses, complete with tiaras, and watch them get into character at a make-believe tea party. Some children want to dress up as adults instead. Let them put on your old formal dresses, shoes, hats, makeup, gloves and costume jewelry, and give them large purses to carry around. Give little girls and boys animal costumes, and let them act out how the particular animals act.

War/Action Games

Little boys often come with war or action games. Some of these games are based on recent pop culture movies, while others stick to old-school staple movies, such as “Star Wars.” Many boys enjoy playing Cops and Robbers or Cowboys and Indians. They choose the “bad guy” amongst themselves, bikes become horses or motorcycles, and the purpose of the game is to track down or hunt the enemy. If you do not want your boys playing with fake, plastic guns or swords, suggest they play some type of action game without weapons. An example is playing astronaut and aliens, or playing a superhero with some type of superhero power.

With dress up games, your child can play with a couple of friends and dress up in clothes according to their desired occupation. They can also pretend that they are married and living in a particular city. Your child can play with friends and dress up in costumes to play the role of a wife, husband or a doctor. You can also give them different tasks to complete.

Faceless aliens in the UK?

On the radio this morning I heard about these “faceless aliens” appearing in the UK. I Googled them and found some websites about it and they had pictures of them. They were seen at Wimbledon and the the start of the Harrods summer sale, opened by Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall. I am sure it’s some sort of hoax, but I want to know more. I am also thinking these are some sort of celebrities that are sick of being chased by the paparazzi’s. (that was also one of the suspicions from a website.) I’ll post the website and see what you think. Be sure to look at the pictures. Notice they all wear black suites and have small holes in the masks so they can see. This is so strange!

Real Aliens In Universe

Real Aliens In Universe

I’ll try and avoid the sometimes silly cliches used throughout the movie “Across the Universe” and say I love this film yeah, yeah, yeah (Oops, sorry!) Using many songs from the Beatles library for its soundtrack, “Across the Universe” is part of a movement that has been taking place over the past several years to inject a new style into telling the traditional coming of age story. In a similar vein to films like “Moulin Rouge” and “A Knights Tale”, “Across the Universe” includes pop music as not only the soundtrack, but also as another character in the story.

The movie takes place in the 1960s, as a group of teens and twentysomethings are making the transition from high school to college and beyond. Main character Jude is on the search for the father he never knew, leading him from his hometown of Liverpool to the campus of Princeton University in the US. At Princeton he meets up with Max, a fun loving, carefree guy who soon ditches college life to move to New York to live with Jude and a collection of fellow bohemians. Along the way, Jude meets and falls in love with Max’s sister, Lucy. These characters experience the gamut from falling in love to heartbreak, to jealousy, and even a call to activism in a war protest. The events coincide with the Vietnam War, and are all experienced through songs of the Beatles. The visual effects are stunning and really accentuate the psychedelic aura of that time.

Look for a few notable guest appearances from the likes of Bono and Joe Cocker throughout the movie. I really enjoyed hearing Beatles music (sung quite well, I might add) used to play out a variety of life experiences. The term “movie musical” gets thrown around for movies like this, and it really fits in this case.

While I know Paul McCartney was rightfully upset when Beatles songs started turning up in Nike commercials and such, I think that himself, along with Ringo and the other surviving Beatles family members, should be pleased at the clever way Beatles music was brought in for “Across the Universe”.

I recommend you see this movie in a theater while you can – the visual effects really are best seen on a big screen. Even so, watch this movie at some point, even if it is at home.

Google Search Aliens In Earth
Looking for Sci-Fi Book Title — Character “Risa”?

I’m looking for the title of a book I read back in high school. This was in the late 80′s, early 90′s, and it was a science fiction book about some type of space academy on earth.

The main character was a girl named Risa, I believe, and there was a love story between her and the main male character. There are alien races in the book that attack the earth while they are away.

I can’t remember much more than that. I’ve already done numerous google searches, but to no avail. It is not a Star Trek story, or an anime story. Unless you’ve read it you probably won’t be able to find it!

Please let me know if you know what I’m talking about. Thanks!

I believe you are looking for
