UFO Database

UFO Database
Does anyone know of any database which could help me correlate UFO sightings and cycles of Venus?

I know there are a lot of UFO organizations, but do you know of one that has a database of most of the UFO reports on record? I would be very interested in correlating them with the position of Venus and time of day.
Abs, I’m certain the number of UFO reports is always significantly higher when Venus is visible. Recently, I’ve seen three UFO videos and I believe all of them were Venus. Out of focus, of course. I would just be interested in seeing how *much* of a correlation there is.
Thanks spaceguy, that looks promising.
Jansen, Venus is probably the number one cause of UFO reports, and I can understand why. There are perceptual and psychological factors here which are fascinating, like how police in a squad car and an airplane pilot have actually *chased* it. It may sound absurd, but it really isn’t. There is more to this phenomenon than meets the eye, and it’s all right in the human brain, and not boring at all.
Yeah, guys, I’m okay on the Venus data.

Unfortunately, I can’t answer your question, but it made me think of the following:

Once I was visiting the astronomer who was observing on the 120-inch telescope at Lick Observatory. He was there with the night assistant, the observatory employee who is responsible for the telescope. The phone rang, and I heard the night assistant say, “That’s Venus, ma’am.” About three minutes later, the phone rang again. “Yes, that’s Venus.”

This scene must repeat itself at observatories all over the world, as well as on Yahoo Answers. Everytime Venus is prominent in the sky — especially after sunset — people are amazed by its brightness and think that they’ve never seen anything like that in the sky before.

It would be fascinating to see a correlation of Venus with UFO reports, but I’m not personally familiar with any that would help you.

Obviously, anyone who tries to study UFOs scientifically (like the late astronomer J. Allen Hynek) is well aware of Venus and the strange reports that can result from it; so accounts that are linked to Venus can quickly be placed in the “explainable” category. The interesting UFO reports (if there are any) are those that don’t have any easy explanations (such as astronomical objects and rocket launches).

One of the things that is obvious from reading questions on YA is that most people do not know how to make good reports on sky observations, and that’s why you see vague questions like “What was that bright object in the sky?” Any good amateur astronomer is familiar with basic concepts — azimuth and altitude, brightness, angular size, angular velocity, time and location of observation. Sifting through UFO reports from inexperienced observers must be frustrating.

The organization founded by Hynek is now called the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies:
